Squid Game Season 2‘s production team has informed media outlets that former BIGBANG member T.O.P. has no plans to exit the series amidst the casting controversy.

According to OSEN on the 9th, a source from Squid Game Season 2‘s production company stated, “Director Hwang Dong Hyuk will remain silent regarding his casting decision of T.O.P.” He further revealed, “The filming for Squid Game Season 2 has not yet started, and there are no plans to issue an official statement clarifying the director’s decision.”

Regarding T.O.P’s potential voluntary departure, the representative stated, “We have not received any indication of such a decision from him.”

On June 29th, Netflix revealed the new cast lineup for Squid Game Season 2, which included T.O.P. However, this announcement immediately sparked criticism due to his past involvement in a drug scandal. The controversy intensified further as it was revealed that he is a close acquiantance of the drama’s leads Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun.

Some have speculated the production team of Squid Game Season 2 may have prioritized the preferences and interests of the global audience over those of domestic viewers.
