Rowoon and Cho Yi Hyun have officially joined the cast of the upcoming KBS drama The Battle of Marriage (literal title).

Scheduled to premiere in October, The Battle of Marriage is a rom-com set in the Joseon era. It centers around a bachelor and a widow who devise grand wedding strategies for elderly bachelors and spinsters, otherwise known as “Gwangbu” and “Wonyeo.” The drama will be a Joseon-era version of Love Actually, as Sim Jeong Woo, the most frustrated bachelor in Hanyang, and Jung Soon Duk, a widow leading a double life, join forces to wed the elderly singles.

The project comes from Sell Your Haunted House writer Ha Su Jin and Into the Ring and Justice director Hwang Seung Ki.

Rowoon steps into the role of Sim Jeong Woo, the most frustrated bachelor in Hanyang. Jeong Woo is a man with an exceptionally sharp intellect, becoming the youngest official to win first place in a state exam. But his life turned into a series of unfortunate events after his fiancée, a princess, died during their wedding.

Cho Yi Hyun, on the other hand, will portray Jung Soon Duk, who leads a double life as a widow and the “god of matchmaking.” Officially, Soon Duk is the second daughter-in-law of the first vice-premier, but unofficially, she is Hanyang’s top matchmaker.

The production team expressed their enthusiasm, stating, “The most sought-after actors of 2023, Rowoon and Cho Yi Hyun, are coming together as the leads for The Battle of Marriage.” They added, “Their unique chemistry will surely provide a blend of excitement and fun for viewers of all ages.”
