Netflix continues to expand its global reach with an exciting adaptation of a popular web novel, Trauma Center: Golden Hour, written by a practicing doctor.
Titled The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, this new medical series follows the journey of genius trauma surgeon Baek Kang Hyuk, who turns the struggling university hospital’s trauma team into the real one that saves lives. The original web novel gained massive popularity, subsequently leading to a serialized NAVER webtoon that garnered significant fanfare.
Ju Ji Hoon will personify the brilliant and confident surgeon, Baek Kang Hyuk, who knows no compromise with reality. Choo Young Woo, acclaimed for his performance in Oasis, is joining the series as Yang Jae Won, the first disciple of Kang Hyuk, who embarks on a challenging life as a trauma surgeon.
Itaewon Class actor Yoon Kyung Ho will play Han Yoo Rim, a proctology professor who watches Kang Hyuk with a hawk eye for “stealing” his resident Jae Won. Mouse actress Ha Young stars as Cheon Jang Mi, a responsible nurse on the trauma team. Adding to the cast is Jeong Jae Kwang, who left a strong impression in The Roundup as a naive junior detective after winning the Best New Actor award at the 2021 Blue Dragon Film Awards, will take on the role of Park Kyung Won, a resident doctor specializing in anesthesiology. He faces various difficult surgeries and unpleasant procedures as he prepares for his specialist exam.
The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call is helmed by director Lee Do Yoon, who previously collaborated with Ju Ji Hoon on Confession, and penned by Adamas writer Choi Tae Kang.
