All guys in Korea have to fulfill their military duty. There are some actors who’ll be returning to their fans’ side this year, but there are also stars who are waiting for a draft card that’ll come in mail one day.
Nam Joo Hyuk finished filming the new Disney Plus series Vigilante last year. The production team shot all of Nam Joo Hyuk’s scenes first by December (since the actor has to enlist soon), but the draft card was sent late, pushing his enlistment date to 2023. It’s expected that he’ll start his military service in the first half of this year.
Though Song Kang never specifically mentioned his enlistment, the actor will most likely join the army once he finishes filming Netflix’s Sweet Home 2. He’ll keep a busy schedule before enlisting. Besides shooting his new drama, he’ll also be holding fan meetings in Asia including Seoul, Tokyo, Bangkok from February to March.
There were rumors about GOT7’s Jinyoung starting his military duty in March, but at the time, BH Entertainment responded, “The exact date of his enlistment hasn’t been confirmed yet. But he will fulfill his military duty.” Currently, he’s working on the new webtoon-adapted series Witch, and the movie Hi.5 that he guest appeared on is also getting ready for release. Moreover, the busy will have a busy year, dropping a solo album and hosting fan events until he enlists.
Business Proposal actor Kim Min Kyu ended the year 2022 successfully, winning the best couple award with Seol In Ah at the SBS Drama Awards. He’ll solidify his position as a lead actor before his enlistment, leading the new tvN drama The Heavenly Idol, slated to premiere soon. The production team announced that the production conference would be pre-recorded due to Kim Min Kyu’s enlistment schedule.
Na In Woo, who spent a busy year last year with 2 Days & 1 Night and two projects that he starred in, Jinxed at First and Ditto, is now shooting the upcoming ENA drama I’ve Been Waiting for You for a Long Time (literal title). The date of his enlistment is still undecided, but the actor said in an interview last year after finishing Jinxed at First that he plans to work hard until he joins the military.
