A former employee of Kris Wu’s agency is reportedly having a hard time finding a new job.
On December 11th, a Chinese influencer uploaded a video of themself having a phone call with the employee in trouble. The video has the former worker talking about the singer’s controversy and why the company had to shut down. They explained that they had no choice but to go out of business because many were condemned and believed to have assisted the crimes of Kris Wu.
They explained that they are currently unable to find new jobs due to their career experience of having worked under Kris Wu. This is because one of the victims stated that a female manager helped him commit one of his crimes.
The former employee on the phone said, “I don’t want to give the impression that I had assisted his crimes upon reading my resume. I’m afraid that no one will hire me. That is why I left that part out.”
Kris was arrested in Beijing in August 2021 on charges of sexually assaulting underage girls who dreamt of becoming celebrities. In November, the Beijing court sentenced him to more than 13 years and ordered him to be deported to Canada after finishing his sentence. He was also fined $86 million for tax evasion, about 112.3 billion won in KRW.
Kris debuted as a Chinese member of EXO in 2012. Two years after his debut, he left the group in 2014 after filing a lawsuit against SM Entertainment to terminate his exclusive contract with the label.
