BTS has received praise for how the group marked Korea’s Liberation Day during their concert in Texas and for a heartwarming moment with a young fan.
BTS performed the U.S. leg of their ARIRANG world tour at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on August 15th. The date coincided with Korea’s Liberation Day, which commemorates the country’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule in 1945.
During the concert, the members wore T-shirts featuring a customized design inspired by the Taegeukgi, South Korea’s national flag. The design incorporated the flag’s red-and-blue taegeuk symbol and its four black trigrams.
Jimin also had red and blue accents in his hair, adding another reference to the colors of the Korean flag.
The tribute caught the attention of local ARMYs, some of whom cheered, “Happy Liberation Day!” after noticing the styling.
The concert also included a touching moment between Jimin and a young fan named Olivia, who is battling childhood cancer.
During the performance, Jimin approached Olivia in the audience, made eye contact with her, and knelt down. He then gave her a keychain he had been holding, hugged her and kissed her on the cheek. Olivia was visibly excited and exclaimed, “I got a kiss!”

The moment was shared by Heroes for Children, the organization that invited Olivia to the concert.
“We are grateful to BTS for giving Olivia the most affectionate hug at last night’s concert,” the organization said on social media. “It’s a moment we’ll always remember.”
Olivia’s mother also shared her gratitude, saying that her daughter loves Jimin and that the family was thankful for the special moment.
“She’s a child who should be asleep by 9PM, but she didn’t let go of the gift Jimin gave her and only fell asleep at 3AM,” she said.
The moment has also prompted some ARMYs to make donations to Heroes for Children, extending the attention surrounding the concert into additional support for the organization.
BTS is currently on its ARIRANG world tour. After the Arlington concert, the group is scheduled to perform at Rogers Stadium in Toronto, Canada, on August 22nd and 23rd.
