BTS are making headlines with their BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ kicking off in Europe. However, member Jimin is generating even more media buzz over his latest Dior look at Paris Fashion Week. In particular, his photoshopped photos became a hot topic for netizens.

Jimin arrived at the Dior Men’s SS27 show at the Musée Nissim de Camondo in Paris sporting a deep navy velvet coat over a green plaid shirt from the SS27 collection, paired with light-wash denim, taupe suede boots, and a diamond-studded My Dior necklace. Despite donning such marvelous accessories, Jimin was criticized for his alleged messy appearance, which was later cleaned up and photoshopped for his Instagram.

Fans began comparing the Getty Images that were released to the ones Jimin posted himself on his personal platform. The visual comparisons were quite alarming as he appeared shorter with darker skin and an ill-fitted outfit. However, on Instagram, Jimin has the visuals of a statue with porcelain skin, a taller build and more elegantly flowing clothing.

Outlets commented on the stark contrast between the photos, saying, “BTS’s Jimin was caught severely photoshopping his latest unrealistic photos on his IG, shortly after Getty Images exposed his true appearance.” Fans even took it further by zooming in on the photos and commenting on the minor differences, such as the removal of laugh lines and even his head size alongside his body proportions.

However, fans were quick to come to Jimin’s aid, saying “Even the hottest celebrities don’t look good on Getty Images,” and “Getty Images always ruins stars’ appearances with excessive flash.” Fans also began comparing photos from other sites, alleging that Jimin did look similar to the photos he personally posted. It is no surprise that idols and their agencies will try to “perfect” their photos with the use of Photoshop, and sponsors are also known for doing the same throughout photoshoots, as well as retouched photos.

Fans dug deeper and began comparing current photos with past ones as well. In various Dior promotional photos, Jimin appears just as elegant and “prince-like” with his long blonde hair and soft features. However, certain shots and angles only enhanced his height and gave the illusion of him looking taller or paler than in reality. According to Jimin’s official profile, the star is only 174 cm (5’8 inches) tall, so it is quite possible that such a large coat made for taller European audiences would drown him out.

However, there were more shocking claims that the original Getty Images were manipulated and photoshopped by anti-fans to make the singer look less appealing and to “drag him” on the internet. Fans noticed the original Getty Image was downloaded and altered. From his skin color and texture to even his leg length, users commented that the “level of malice is unreal,” and “they stoop too low.” Fans also stated video recording of Jimin meeting other celebs are proof of his natural appearance. He is seen in videos with stars like Northern Irish Fashion Designer Jonathan Anderson getting the paparazzi. “If these videos were photoshopped, it would have affected Anderson as well,” one fan claimed on X.

People also found issues with the idea that making Jimin look “less attractive” involved darkening his skin. Even his nose was considered to have been enlarged, which users remarked as being “disgusting and racist” if these features are considered ugly. In the end, whether Jimin’s photos were edited or not, the star left a lasting impression for this season’s fashion week.
