According to reports, Lee Jung Jae will be paid $697K per episode for Squid Game Season 2.

TV Daily reported that the actor will begin shooting the sequel next year and his new per-episode salary will be around $697K. If the second season gets nine episodes like the first one, he will be making a total of around $6.3 million for shooting the whole season. Moreover, the exec producer of the series, Hwang Dong Hyuk, has reportedly received a bonus compensation for the success of the series and continuing his series on the platform.

Reports say that the Squid Game production team and Netflix had a lengthy discussion on the production costs and incentives related to the show’s sequel as its first season gained sensational popularity worldwide. Although the South Korean series was a huge success, the production team was not able to receive any additional incentives or profits due to the exclusive contract they had signed with Netflix. However, the two reportedly agreed to revise the terms of acquisition, with season 2 being announced.

The production cost for Squid Game 2 is estimated to be $69.7 million, excluding the appearance fees of all major stars in the series. However, the cost is projected to rise with global premieres and promotional events to be scheduled ahead of its release.

Later on the day, a representative from Cyron Pictures shared, “Squid Game Season 2 is still in the works. Everything, including Lee Jung Jae’s payroll, has not been finalized yet.”
