BTS’ RM has posted a supportive Instagram story for South Korean speed skater Hwang Dae Heon who failed to enter the 1,000-meter finals at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

On February 7th, RM posted a short video on his Instagram account.

The video shows the men’s 1000m short track speed skating semifinal where Hwang Dae Heon crosses the finish line before two Chinese skaters. The singer posted the video with a clapping and a thumbs-up emoji without captions.

Hwang, who had been a strong medal contender for the 1,000-meter race, won his semifinal with an audacious pass of two Chinese skaters. However, he was disqualified when referees determined that his pass was late and caused contact.

In the other semifinal, Lee June Seo was also penalized for a lane change that caused contact. As a result, the decision opened up a spot in the finals for Chinese skater Wu Dajing. Both Hwang and Lee were seemingly distraught by the decisions and both domestic and foreign press are now generally mentioning that the South Korean team was wrongly disqualified due to the questionable decision of the hosting country.
