Recently, Twitter released this year’s rankings for top trending tweets and keywords. And just like what we have expected, BTS topped the list.
On Dec 8, Twitter Korea wrote, “The year 2020… How can you summarize a year like this year? Today, we’re announcing this year’s rankings for top trending tweets and keywords, along with the hashtag #ThisHappened.”
According to them, BTS’s Twitter account (@BTS_twt) is the most mentioned account for 4th consecutive years. The second-most retweeted tweet is Jungkook’s short and sweet cover of Lauv’s “Never Not.”

K-pop was one of the most talked-about topics on Twitter around the world. Once again, BTS became the most tweeted K-pop accounts globally. The rest of the Top 10 chart includes EXO, BLACKPINK, Seventeen, GOT7, NCT127, TXT, ATEEX, Treasure and Stary Kids.
COVID-19 topped the social keyword of the year. The hashtag “#COVID19” has been tweeted more than 400 million times around the world.
