Red Shoes, an animation produced by Korean producers, will be the first Korean animation to enter the US market through an American distributor.

Red Shoes is a 3D family animation produced by Sidus Animation, a Korean animation studio. It was first released in Korean last year and attracted about 820,000 moviegoers. The film also won the Presidential Award for Best Animation at the 2019 Korea Content Awards.

It was directed by director Hong Sung Ho, and Chloe Moretz and Sam Claflin joined the voice cast. Lionsgate Films, which produced and distributed John Wick, The Hunger Games, and La La Land, will be in charge of distribution to North America.

Under the title Red Shoes And The Seven Dwarfs, Lionsgate will release the animation through TVoD services, including Apple, Box Office, and Amazon, in North America on Sept. 18 and then release in Blu-ray and DVD on Sept. 22.

Previously, Red Shoes was released in Poland in January this year and earned about 1.3 million USD. Then in July, it was released in Australia in 254 theaters and collected about 1.4 million USD. In Spain, also released in July, Red Shoes landed at No. 1 on the box office for two weeks, drawing keen attention.

After the US release, Red Shoes will be released in South America, Northern Europe, and Japan from the end of this year to next year.
