The Chinese film Double World, starring Henry Lau, has become a global hit.
Just one day after its release, Double World ranked third in Netflix Korea‘s “Today’s Top 10 Movies” and second in just two days. Also, it continues its global box office success worldwide, ranking second in Taiwan, third in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, fourth in Vietnam and Greece, and fifth in New Zealand and Thailand.
Attention is focusing on how far the Double World will go in terms of its popularity in Asia and around the world.
Originally, the movie was scheduled to be released in theaters to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the game, which the movie is based on. But due to the spread of COVID-19, it was first released on the Chinese streaming platform iQIYI on July 24 and on Netflix on July 25.
In particular, Double World showed its position as a global box office hit movie, achieving an unrivaled record of 42.62 million RMB (about 6.1 million USD) only through iQIYI within 72 hours of its release.
Henry is also receiving rave responses. In the movie, he played the role of Dong Yi Longa naive but warm-hearted man who participates in a martial arts competition in search of his roots, melting his fans’ hearts with his colorful actions and emotional performances.
