KBS2’s popular variety show 2 Days & 1 Night Season 4 has found itself in hot water after its latest episode sparked outrage over the cast’s seemingly indifferent behavior during a “manners test.” The backlash led to the show’s production team removing the clip from online platforms.
In the episode aired on October 6th, the show’s six cast members—Kim Jong Min, DinDin, Cho Sae Ho, Lee Joon, Yoo Seon Ho, and Moon Se Yoon—were unknowingly tested on their manners. The youngest writer on the crew was tasked with carrying a large watermelon in front of the cast to gauge their reactions and see if they would offer to help. Surprisingly, only Moon Se Yoon stepped in to assist, while the other members did not intervene.
Kim Jong Min simply asked, “Whose watermelon is it?” but offered no assistance. Cho Se Ho walked by without even looking, glued to his phone, while the others also failed to offer help. When shown the footage, the cast appeared embarrassed by their actions.
Kim Jong Min explained, “I was worried it might be awkward if I helped with someone else’s things.” DinDin expressed frustration, saying, “I even used honorifics when talking to her. I showed my respect,” while Cho Se Ho remarked, “I don’t remember that moment.” Yoo Seon Ho added, “I thought it looked heavy, but she was almost there.”
Lee Joon, who didn’t notice the writer at first, admitted, “Even if I saw her, I wouldn’t have helped. She didn’t look at all like she was struggling with them; helping her would’ve been awkward.”
The situation escalated after Moon Se Yoon jokingly called out Cho Se Ho, saying, “The worst was Cho Se Ho saying, ‘Why can’t I remember?’ That’s unforgivable.” Cho Se Ho responded, “I can take the criticism, but I was really hungry—I hadn’t eaten anything since ox bone soup earlier.”
After the episode aired, viewers took to online forums to express their disappointment, with some saying, “Regardless of gender, you should help someone carrying something heavy,” and, “How did they not realize this would spark backlash?” Others, however, defended the cast’s stance, agreeing that stepping in might have felt awkward or presumptuous.
With the controversy growing, 2 Days & 1 Night 4 quickly removed the clip from their official YouTube channel and other platforms.
