SF9’s Chani is returning to the small screen.
According to DongA, Chani was cast in the upcoming tvN drama Umbrella (literal title). Umbrella follows the conflict within the palace to make the troublemaker princes, who cause nothing but headaches for the royal family, into proper crown princes. This new black-comedy historical drama deals with the education method of the royal family of the Joseon dynasty.
Chani will be stepping into the role of Prince Uiseong, who’s so smart that he actually seems devilish. With handsome looks and martial arts skills, he avoids those with power and crushes the weak. He believes that the blood flowing through his body is noble, which makes him a firm believer in the hierarchy. Though she’s the son of a consort, he considers himself pure since he got the king’s blood. He often clashes with Prince Seongnam.
This character is the opposite of the roles Chani has played so far. Moreover, he’ll be showing the mother-son chemistry with Mine and The Uncanny Counter actress Ok Ja Yeon.
Meanwhile, Umbrella has been a hot topic ever since Kim Hye Soo confirmed her TV return with the project. The show is now in talks to premiere in the second half of this year.
