Today, YG Entertainment announced that BLAKCPINK’s Jennie would be starring in the new HBO series, The Idol.

The Idol created a buzz earlier as it is produced by a famous American pop star, The Weeknd. Set against the backdrop of the music industry, the upcoming show depicts a chaotic romance between a rising pop star and a cult leader.

The Weeknd and the show’s stellar cast including, Lily-Rose Depp, Troye Sivan, and BLACKPINK’s Jennie, will make the show immersive and interesting.

There are no details about what role Jennie will be playing, but the upcoming drama is already getting lots of attention as it will be her first TV show role.

She previously said in an interview, “I think the story is great, and that’s part of the reason I joined the project. I am very excited to star in the show. I will do my best so please stay tuned for the upcoming show.”

Home to Chernobyl: Abyss and Game of Thrones, HBO is one of the biggest names when it comes to video streaming services in the world.

The Idol’s premiere date has yet to be announced.
