The 2026 Buil Film Awards took place in Busan on October 7th during the Busan International Film Festival, celebrating the best films and performances of the past year.
Hosted by actors Kim Nam Gil and Chun Woo Hee, this year’s ceremony presented awards across 16 categories, with Hope emerging as the biggest winner of the night.
Directed by Na Hong Jin, Hope won five awards, including Best Director for Na Hong Jin, Best Supporting Actor for Um Mun Suk, Best New Actress for Jung Ho Yeon, Cinematography, and Art/Technical Award.
The World of Love, an independent film, also had a strong showing, winning Best Picture and Best Actress for Seo Su Bin.
Yoo Hai Jin won Best Actor for The King’s Warden, beating out fellow nominees including Lee Byung Hun and Zo In Sung. However, he did not attend the ceremony amid the recent controversy surrounding the film Assassins.
The King’s Warden, which drew more than 16 million moviegoers, also earned Star of the Year Awards for Park Ji Hoon and Jeon Mi Do. The two actors played King Danjong and his consort, respectively, in the film.
