Ji Chang Wook is making his return to romance dramas after three years.
CJ ENM announced on July 30th that the upcoming romance drama Merry Berry Love, starring Ji Chang Wook, will premiere in October.
Merry Berry Love follows a Korean space planner and a Japanese strawberry farmer who unexpectedly meet on a beautiful island and begin a romantic journey together.
The series marks the first collaboration between CJ ENM and Japan’s Nippon TV. It will be released globally through Disney Plus and also air on Nippon TV in Japan.
Ji Chang Wook plays Lee Yu Bin, a successful space planner in Korea who loses everything overnight and finds himself starting over on the Island.
The drama marks Ji Chang Wook’s first romance role in three years, following his appearance in JTBC’s Welcome to Samdal-ri.
Japanese actress Imada Mio stars as Karin Shirahama, a strawberry farmer who becomes involved with Lee Yu Bin. The cast also includes Nam Yoon Su as Park Gu Nam, a part-time worker on the Island, and Rinka Kumada as Marie Mizuno, Karin’s best friend and a tarot card reader specializing in love and relationships.
Ji Chang Wook shared his excitement about the project, saying, “I’ve wanted to participate in a collaboration with Japan for a long time, and I was thrilled to find a role that felt like the perfect fit while also being approachable for Japanese viewers.”
He added, “It’s a bright, cheerful production filled with love, so I hope you look forward to it.”
