Park Min Young is pulling out all the stops for her highly anticipated return to the thriller genre.
In preparation for her role as Han Seul Ah in the upcoming tvN drama Siren’s Kiss, Park revealed that she underwent significant weight loss and even changed her daily routines to fully immerse herself in the character.
Set to premiere on March 2nd, Siren’s Kiss is a romance thriller about a woman with an irresistible charm who becomes the prime suspect in an insurance fraud case. The story follows a man as he investigates the mysterious deaths connected to her.
Park’s character, Han Seul Ah, has a chilling past: every man who has loved her has died. Park described her as “a woman who locked herself away in ice.”
“She’s lived in self-imposed isolation because she can’t blame anyone for the strange events around her,” Park explained.
To authentically portray Han’s emotions and inner conflict, Park not only focused on weight loss but also adjusted her daily life to mirror Han’s isolated existence. She paid attention to subtle details to highlight the character’s dual nature. “I focused on moving from a confident auctioneer to a dark, mysterious figure when alone,” she said.
Park even modified her voice for the role. “For the first time, I spoke with a slightly breathy tone and a lower pitch than my natural voice,” she shared.
This project marks Park’s first foray into the thriller genre and reunites her with tvN following the massive success of Marry My Husband.
“Marry My Husband was such a beloved project, and I have a strong connection with tvN, so I’m very happy to return. This is my first thriller, so I’m curious to see how viewers will react,” she said.
Offering advice to audiences, Park added, “I recommend watching each episode carefully to unravel the events surrounding Han Seul Ah without any spoilers. It’s not a light watch—it carries profound, weighty meanings—so full concentration is best.”
Siren’s Kiss premieres on tvN on March 2nd at 8:50 PM KST.
