
K-pop legend BoA has officially ended her exclusive contract with SM Entertainment after a 25-year partnership that helped shape the industry.
SM Entertainment announced the decision in a heartfelt statement on January 12th. “We have agreed to conclude our 25-year journey together as of December 31st, after extensive and in-depth discussions with BoA,” the agency confirmed.
SM praised BoA’s legendary career, who played a pivotal role in pioneering the Hallyu wave across Asia. “She has received immense love from global music fans and has become a role model for countless junior artists leading the K-pop phenomenon,” the statement read.
The agency reflected on her impact, noting, “We cherish every moment from BoA’s groundbreaking debut to her current success as a leading artist and producer. It has been a true honor for us to be part of her brilliant journey.”
