Song Ha Yoon is officially taking legal action nearly a year after being accused of school bullying.

ong’s legal team at the law firm JI-EUM released a statement on July 2nd addressing the situation: “Last year, allegations surfaced accusing Song Ha Yoon of being involved in school bullying over 20 years ago. From the beginning, she made it clear that these claims were false. However, proving that something didn’t happen is incredibly difficult, which made it hard for her to respond aggressively at the time.”

The statement continued, “Song has worked to gather evidence disproving the claims made by the original source since then. She has now secured multiple pieces of supporting evidence and has filed a criminal complaint against him.”

According to her legal team, the initial accuser is currently living in the United States and claims to be a U.S. citizen. He has reportedly refused to cooperate with South Korean authorities. “Despite his claims, the police have confirmed that the person still holds South Korean citizenship,” the firm stated. “Although authorities have continued their investigation, the person has refused to return to Korea or comply with the investigation. If he does re-enter the country, police will be immediately notified and the investigation will resume.”

Song is also exploring legal options within the U.S. and plans to hold any third parties who helped spread the false claims accountable through civil and criminal proceedings.

Her legal team emphasized: “Song Ha Yoon never engaged in any violence toward him during high school and was never forced to transfer schools because of bullying. We have submitted official documents and notarized statements that clearly refute these claims.”

They also noted that both a high school classmate who was named as a witness and Song’s former homeroom teacher have denied the allegations.

“These false accusations have seriously damaged Song Ha Yoon’s reputation, which she has worked hard to build over the past 22 years. She has suffered great emotional distress as a result,” the statement concluded. “Her contract with her former agency has ended, and she’s currently preparing to return to the public with a fresh mindset and in a new environment. She’s committed to showing a more mature and humble version of herself moving forward.”

The controversy began in April 2024, when Song was at the height of her popularity thanks to the hit drama Marry My Husband. A former classmate came forward with accusations of school bullying. At the time, Song’s team responded firmly: “We can state she has never met the accuser and that the claims are entirely false after confirming with the actress. We are exploring all necessary legal actions, including civil and criminal proceedings against the accuser, as well as an injunction against JTBC’s Crime Chief to prevent further broadcasts on the matter.”
