Jennie recently held “The Ruby Experience” concert at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on March 6th and 7th to celebrate the release of her first solo album, RUBY.
In a recent interview on Apple Music’s The Zane Lowe Show, Jennie nodded in agreement when the host remarked, “‘Twin’ can only be based on a true story,” hinting that the song is deeply personal.
The lyrics of “Twin” express a heartfelt longing for someone, with lines such as: “It feels like I’m writing a letter, but this is actually a song”, “Will you listen to me? We’ve been together for ten years / Young, foolish, and naive, my friend / But I knew we both made mistakes”, “I haven’t left you / I still see you”, “I couldn’t hold you, but I still know you. We’ll make amends and set things right when we grow older, my friend.”
Since Jennie co-wrote and composed the song, fans have been eager to identify the person behind these emotional lyrics. Many now believe it is Chahee, a longtime friend of Jennie from their Cheongdam Middle School days. The two, both born in 1996, were once inseparable, with Jennie frequently showcasing their friendship on social media. She even hosted a celebration party for Chahee in 2019 when she transitioned into acting after leaving Melody Day.
However, the pair have not been seen together since 2022, leading to speculation that Chahee may be the subject of the ‘cut-off’ referenced in “Twin”.
As a result, Chahee has become the center of attention, with her Instagram flooded by comments from Jennie’s international fans urging a reconciliation. Messages on her latest post include: “Jennie sang Twin in tears for you. We miss and support your friendship”, “Jennie wrote Twin for you”, “Jennie loves you”, “I don’t know what happened, but I truly love your bond.”
Despite the growing speculation, Chahee has remained quiet on the matter. She shared a serene moment on Instagram Stories, posting a photo from a peaceful hike—seemingly unfazed by the ongoing buzz.
