The Nice Guy is bringing together Lee Dong Wook and Lee Sung Kyung in a tender reunion filled with first love memories.

JTBC’s new series The Nice Guy is an emotional noir that follows Park Seok Cheol (Lee Dong Wook), the eldest son of a three-generation gangster family with a surprisingly tender heart, and his first love, Kang Mi Young (Lee Sung Kyung), an aspiring singer chasing her dreams. On July 1st, the network unveiled new stills capturing the emotionally charged moments between the two.

Lee Dong Wook transforms into Park Seok Cheol, the eldest grandson of a notorious gangster family who once dreamed of becoming a writer like Hemingway, but ends up in the underworld to survive. But his world is upended when he fatefully crosses paths with his first love, Kang Mi Young, igniting a wave of feelings he’d long buried.

Lee Sung Kyung plays Kang Mi Young, a woman who clings to her dream of becoming a singer despite the harsh realities of life and a crippling fear of the stage. Her reunion with Park Seok Cheol brings a turning point to her life.

The newly released photos capture the heart-fluttering moments of their everyday life post-reunion. Their tender eye contact and quiet, unspoken connection suggest a love that becomes their only source of comfort.

Speaking about his co-star, Lee Dong Wook shared, “Lee Sung Kyung is thoughtful and full of ideas. No matter what I suggested, she understood right away and even offered fresh alternatives. I learned a lot from her,” adding, “She always brought bright, positive energy, which I was really grateful for.” He described the relationship between their characters as “redemption and the reason to keep living,” teasing a love story that’s sure to tug at viewers’ hearts.

Lee Sung Kyung echoed the praise, saying, “You can feel how thoughtful and attentive he (Lee Dong Wook) is—not just to his co-stars but to the whole set.” On the relationship between Seok Cheol and Mi Young, she said, “They’re the kind of first love you dream about in stories. Clumsy, pure, and holding on to one another even in harsh reality.”

The Nice Guy premieres July 18th at 8:50 PM KST and will air two back-to-back episodes every Friday.
