IU is officially postponing all upcoming concerts and her new album release due to ongoing health issues.
Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, announced on July 21st that they are reshaping her near-future schedule. The delay affects both her 6th full-length album and a major concert at Goyang Stadium, originally scheduled for September.
The schedule change comes after her chronic Patulous Eustachian Tube dysfunction worsened. The ear condition leaves the tube inside the eardrum abnormally open, causing persistent pressure, discomfort, and auditory issues.
The agency reassured fans that “the artist’s symptoms do not affect her daily life.” However, they stressed that “this decision was made to allow her to present the best possible performance.” They added, “We will provide full support for the artist’s recovery,” and promised, “We will do our best to ensure IU can meet her fans in good health.”
IU spoke to her fanbase directly through the community platform Weverse to explain the situation.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to go ahead with the Goyang Stadium concert,” IU told fans. “My Eustachian tube dysfunction has gotten worse. The symptoms continue day and night, and when I sing, it’s becoming harder and harder to stay in good condition.”
Though she has already finished recording the new album, medical professionals advised against pushing forward with live performances.
“My symptoms aren’t affecting my daily life in a major way, but I’ve been told that putting on a concert would be too physically demanding for the time being,” IU explained. She expressed sincere guilt over delaying her nationwide tour and album release. “I’m so sorry. I feel terrible that I won’t be able to keep my promise to perform for Uaena as planned.”
IU apologized once again, adding, “I am so sorry; words can’t express how sorry I am. I’ll do everything I can to recover quickly so I can bring my new album and concerts to Uaena as soon as possible.”
She hopes to return to the stage early next year after focusing on her recovery.
“I’ll focus on my treatment and do everything I can to get better so we can definitely be together at the beginning of 2027,” she wrote.
Fans responded with an outpouring of warm messages, wishing her a complete and speedy recovery.
Meanwhile, IU is also pursuing legal action against online harassers, having recently filed for discovery in a U.S. court to unmask persistent cyberbullies.
