BTS’ Jungkook is addressing the controversy surrounding his recent livestream, offering an apology to fans while standing by his perspective.

In the early hours of April 8th, Jungkook went live on the fan platform Weverse, where he brought up the issue directly. “I feel like I should apologize to ARMY for my recent livestream,” he began.

While he acknowledged fans’ discomfort, Jungkook made it clear he doesn’t view his actions as a major wrongdoing. “I don’t think what I did was seriously wrong,” he said. “It’s the kind of language people use all the time, even those working on YouTube. But since I haven’t shown that side of myself before, I understand it may have made ARMY uncomfortable. To those who felt that way, I’m sorry. I’ll be more mindful.”

But he pushed back against some of the criticism, adding, “I don’t really want to say much to people who are busy bashing everything. Still, thank you for the attention.”

Jungkook emphasized his sincerity towards fans, saying, “I don’t see myself as a perfect or especially righteous person, but I’ve always been genuine with ARMY. That’s why I wanted to apologize at least once. I don’t even know how I might act sometimes—I’m human. I won’t do anything bad, but if something feels off, please point it out. I’ll listen and take it in.”

At the same time, he reiterated his stance: “I don’t think it was wrong. Some people even liked it. But ARMY is diverse, and since some felt uncomfortable, I wanted to say I’m sorry for that.”

He also noted how clips from livestreams are often edited and shared out of context. “This will probably get edited and uploaded too. Editing these days is really sensationalized,” he said. “It’s not like I was swearing at ARMY—I was talking to a friend. I get that it doesn’t look good on camera, but there are plenty of celebrities who do the same. That’s why I don’t think it’s wrong.”

The controversy stems from a livestream on February 26th, when Jungkook went live for about an hour and a half while drinking. During the broadcast, he used profanity and flipped off his friend, which quickly sparked debate online.
