Kim Do Yeon has personally spoken out about the same-sex kiss scene featured in the teaser for I.O.I’s new song, released ahead of the group’s long-awaited comeback after 10 years.
On May 6th, Kim Do Yeon answered fan questions through a fan communication platform. When asked, “What did you think when you first received the storyboard for the kiss scene?” she replied, “You might not believe it, but it was actually my idea.”
When another fan asked, “Did you nail it right away?” she honestly responded, “We filmed it multiple times.”
Speaking about Jeon Somi’s reaction, she shared, “We weren’t flustered. They made it intense,” explaining that everyone was serious while filming the scene.
She added, “The original reference scene was something cute where she playfully slaps me. I suggested, ‘Instead of slapping, let’s kiss,’” drawing major attention from fans.
Earlier on May 6th at midnight, the teaser video for I.O.I’s comeback title track “Suddenly” was released.
The teaser quickly went viral for a shocking scene in which Jeon Somi kisses Kim Do Yeon. Netizens reacted with comments such as, “What did I just watch?”, “With so many members now active as actresses, I’m excited for the performances,” and “This feels so good.”
