Emmanuel Macron is giving fans a glimpse into his Korea trip—with a very K-pop twist.

Following his visit to South Korea from April 2nd to 3rd, the French president shared a series of selfies and videos featuring some of the country’s biggest stars, including Jun Ji Hyun, Jeon Jong Seo and Stray Kids’ Felix.

On April 4th, Macron posted a short video on Instagram captioned in Korean, “finger heart.” Set to Stray Kids’ track “Victory Song,” the clip shows Macron briefly taking Felix’s phone to snap a selfie before handing it back. Felix then thanks him in French, saying, “Merci beaucoup.” The video quickly gained traction, surpassing 2.5 million views within a day with more than 3,700 comments.

Felix, who currently serves as an honorary ambassador for France in celebration of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, also appeared in a group selfie Macron shared separately. The photo features Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, alongside Jun Ji Hyun, Jeon Jong Seo, Noh Sang Hyun, PSY, and Felix. The snapshot is believed to have been taken during a farewell dinner with figures from Korea’s cultural scene on April 3rd.

During the visit, Macron and President Lee Jae Myung also attended a private dinner at Cheong Wa Dae’s Sangchunjae on the 2nd, joined by their spouses. At the gathering, Brigitte Macron offered to show a video of BLACKPINK performing in Paris with world-renowned violinist Daniel Lozakovich. Macron reportedly pulled up the clip on his phone to share with the group. The collaboration took place in January 2023 at a charity event hosted by the French hospital foundation led by Brigitte Macron.

The following day, after a summit meeting, the two presidents attended a luncheon with around 140 guests from various fields, including Felix and Jun Ji Hyun. During the event, Macron referenced Nobel Prize-winning author Han Kang, saying, “She once described a ‘golden thread that connects our hearts.’ I’d like to use that same metaphor to describe the 140 years of friendship between our two countries.”

From K-pop to Korean cinema, Macron’s visit made one thing clear—he’s fully embracing Korean culture.
