Jeon So Min is getting real about life, love, and personal change.
On April 4th, the actress appeared on Kim Ji Seok’s YouTube channel “Jewel Inside Me” in a video titled “Day Drinking with So Min,” where she opened up about everything from acting challenges to her evolving views on marriage.
Talking about her recent foray into theater, Jeon So Min admitted, “The audience is really scary. It feels like I can hear the breathing of the people in the front row.” Still, she added, “But when it’s over, the sense of accomplishment I feel is completely different.”
She also spoke candidly about marriage, revealing her uncertainty. “I wonder, would it be tough for me if I don’t get married?” she said. “Would I feel a sense of loss for not experiencing something that everyone else does?”
The conversation took a lighter turn when she joked about blind dates, asking Kim Ji Seok if his younger brother was good-looking. “Rather than random setups, someone close to a friend feels more reliable,” she said with a laugh. Kim Ji Seok responded that his brother is ten years younger and already set to get married next year.
During a playful “balance game,” Jeon So Min had everyone laughing with her blunt honesty. Faced with a question about choosing money over dignity in a highly embarrassing situation—pooping in public, she joked, “If the value of money is the same as now, I wouldn’t do it for 10 billion won (about $7.5 million). Maybe for 20 billion won… then I’d just move abroad,” leaving the host in disbelief.
But the tone turned more reflective as Kim Ji Seok noted she seemed calmer lately. Jeon So Min responded, “I’ve let go of my dreams.” She continued, “It might sound negative, but there comes a time when you have to let them go. I think I’m at that point.”
Rather than seeing it as a loss, she described it as freeing. “When you let go, you start to feel like it’s okay not to become something specific. I decided not to define exactly what I have to be,” she said. She then added, “I have to believe in myself. I haven’t lived carelessly, so no matter where I go, I’ll work hard.”
Jeon So Min recently appeared in the film 18 Youth as a laid-back teacher and is set to take the stage in the play Lungs this May, a two-person drama exploring love, life, and the question of what it means to be a “good person.”
