BTS is officially back—and they’re calling it a new beginning.
The group drops their fifth full-length album ARIRANG on March 20th at 1 PM KST, marking their first group release in three years and nine months since Proof. Framed as the start of “BTS 2.0,” the 14-track album reflects the group’s journey, identity, and everything they’ve built along the way.
The title track “SWIM,” an alternative pop song with lyrics by RM, captures the idea of pushing forward through life’s waves. “The more I listened, the more I felt like I wanted to keep swimming with it,” RM said, explaining why it ultimately became the title.
At first, the track didn’t hit as instantly as some of their harder songs—but that was the point. “It’s not flashy at first, but it stays with you,” Jin said, pointing out a memorable rhythmic hook that stuck with him. V added, “It’s simple, but the kind of song you can keep coming back to.”
J-Hope said the performance was designed to match that tone, with choreography inspired by waves and moments of stillness, while Jungkook noted the track best represents “where BTS is right now,” both musically and emotionally.

Beyond the music, ARIRANG leans into Korean elements—something RM described as “a key thread that connects all seven of us.” The members contributed ideas across the board, from songwriting to the album’s visual concept, with Jungkook’s input helping shape the logo.
Much of the album came together during a songwriting camp in Los Angeles, where the group lived and worked side by side. “We talked a lot, ate together, and even revisited stories from our rookie days,” Suga said. Jimin added that creating music together as a full group made the project especially meaningful.
Despite the years apart, the group says one thing hasn’t changed. “When we’re together, we’re the most ourselves,” RM shared. “That hasn’t gone anywhere.”
Jin agreed, adding that if anything, they’ve grown even closer. “We still laugh and joke the same way—maybe even more now.”
And through it all, their message to fans remains the same. “Our feelings for ARMY haven’t changed,” J-Hope and Jungkook said. “We’re always grateful.”
To celebrate the release, BTS will host a group livestream on Weverse and hold a comeback performance in Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square the following day—kicking off what they describe as their next chapter.
