Newly revealed messages from the late Jung Eun Woo are offering a heartbreaking glimpse into his final thoughts.

On March 11th, designer Hwang Young Rong took to Instagram to share a photo of Jung Eun Woo along with screenshots of the texts they exchanged before his death.

“I should have answered your call. I didn’t know. I’m so sorry,” Hwang wrote. “I should have cared more. I’m really sorry, and I’m sincerely grateful. I promise I’ll keep my word. I love you. Goodbye.”

She also shared messages she had received from the actor. In one text, Jung Eun Woo wrote candidly, “There are so many liars and scammers in this world. I was the fool in the broadcasting station.” He added, “I was hurt by people and tried to find comfort in the ones who came to me. It’s disgusting. I don’t understand why people live like that.”

Reflecting on his struggles, he continued, “Winning is about grades when you’re a student. In the end, enduring is what wins. But endure with your own strength. I once tried to lean on someone else’s strength, and after getting hit from every direction for four years, I realized it’s not something you should ever do. Those guys had no loyalty. We called each other brothers for over ten years.” He ended the message on a quieter note: “You’ll do better than I did. I’ll hang in there too. Living well isn’t about having money. I think it’s about communication.”

Jung Eun Woo died yesterday at age 40. Born in 1986, he debuted in 2006 with the KBS2 drama Sharp 3 and later appeared in MBC’s H.I.T., SBS’s Bride of the Sun and Five Fingers. In 2012, he won the New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards. His final screen appearance was in the 2021 film Memory.
