Krystal is looking back on her childhood, her early career, and one memorable moment that didn’t sit well with her sister Jessica.
The singer-actress appeared in a new video for Harper’s Bazaar Korea on December 1st, where she flipped through photos from different stages of her life. Looking at a child modeling shot taken when she was around five or six, Krystal said, “When I see my childhood photos, I realize how beautifully my mom dressed me. I still wear some of her clothes from 20 to 30 years ago. My sister and I often wore matching outfits, and I wore a lot of her hand-me-downs.”
She then reflected on a behind-the-scenes still from the f(x) debut music video, “LA chA TA.” “I was 14. I was so young,” she said. “Our team was always experimenting back then, so everything we wore felt new to us.”
Looking at a photo from the 2013 drama The Heirs, Krystal shared that she was 20 when she played Bona. “She was a rich girl who always had to wear luxury brands,” she said. “I actually took a lot of references from ‘Gossip Girl.'”
Krystal also revealed a funny story from filming: “I borrowed a luxury bag from my sister for the shoot, and of all the scenes, it ended up being the one where someone throws the bag on the floor. My sister was really mad when she saw that scene,” she said, laughing.
This year marks a major milestone for Krystal. She recently released Solitary, her first solo single in 16 years since debut, and she’s set to return to TV in the upcoming tvN weekend drama How to Become a Building Owner in Korea (literal title). Her new film, the sequel to Wind titled AUDITION 109, is also slated for release next year.
