Netflix’s upcoming series Boyfriend on Demand is ready to shake up the rom-com scene with a swoon-worthy virtual dating fantasy.
Set to premiere on March 6th, the rom-com follows Mi Rae, a webtoon producer played by Jisoo, who turns to a virtual dating simulation service to escape her exhausting real life and finally experience romance on her own terms. In the show, “Boyfriend on Demand” is both the title and the in-story dating service that lets users step into a virtual world and live out their dream dates.
The newly released main trailer shows Mi Rae stepping out of her repetitive daily routine and into the program, where a “date manager” played by Yoo In Na welcomes her with the promise, “We threw in everything you like.” What follows is a whirlwind of fantasy scenarios—from meeting a prince-like partner, to running into first love on a cherry blossom campus, to receiving a bold confession from a warmhearted doctor, and even going on dates with a secret agent and a top star.

Back in the real world, Mi Rae keeps crossing paths with Gyeong Nam, played by Seo In Guk, who unexpectedly becomes her “late-night work buddy,” hinting at a different kind of chemistry outside the simulation.
The series also boasts a standout lineup of special appearances, with Seo Kang Joon, Lee Soo Hyuk, Ong Seong Wu, Lee Jae Wook, Lee Hyun Wook, Kim Young Dae, Jay Park, and Lee Sang Yi appearing as Mi Rae’s various virtual love interests. Supporting cast members Ha Young and Yoo In Na are also set to bring lively energy to the story.
Director Kim Jung Sik highlighted the show’s unique concept, saying the lead character gets to “experience romance across multiple worlds and settings within a single story,” allowing viewers to enjoy a wide range of romantic comedy variations. He added that each virtual-date episode was crafted to showcase Jisoo’s versatility, with “different jobs and setups in every episode” and subtle shifts in performance so that her roles in the virtual world feel clearly distinct from her real-life self.
