Major K-pop agencies and artists are uniting to offer condolences and financial aid following a catastrophic fire at a high-rise apartment complex in Hong Kong.

The tragedy, which occurred on November 26th at the Wang Fuk Court residential complex in the Tai Po district, has killed nearly 100 lives. The fire tore through the 32-story complex, which houses approximately 4,800 residents across eight buildings.

HYBE released a joint statement on November 28th on behalf of its six labels, expressing deep sympathy for the victims. The company announced a donation of 500 million won ($360,000) to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association to support affected families in collaboration with Hong Kong non-profits.

SM Entertainment and its artists also made significant contributions. The agency donated 1 million Hong Kong dollars ($128,000) to the Hong Kong Red Cross. Groups aespa and RIIZE made separate donations of 500,000 Hong Kong dollars ($64,242) and 250,000 Hong Kong dollars ($32,121), respectively.

YG Entertainment expressed profound sorrow over the loss of life and donated 1 million Hong Kong dollars ($128,000) for emergency relief and recovery efforts.

Individual artists are also contributing directly. Jackson Wang of GOT7, who was born in Hong Kong, donated 1 million Hong Kong dollars ($128,000) through his brand TEAM WANG to Tung Wah Hospital to support victims.

CUBE Entertainment’s (G)I-DLE donated 1 million Yuan ($140,000 USD). The group’s Chinese member, Yuqi, posted a personal message on social media: “I hope everyone is safe and sound.” Other artists, including members of WayV and ZEROBASEONE’s Zhang Hao, have also made personal donations.

The 2025 MAMA Awards faced uncertainty following the disaster, as scheduled for November 28th and 29th at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Stadium. Organizers have decided to proceed with the main ceremony but have canceled the red carpet event out of respect for the victims.

The ceremony will include a special moment of remembrance, and organizers confirmed they will participate in donation efforts. Stage productions and special effects are expected to be toned down to reflect the somber mood in the city.
