TVING’s original series Dear X has landed—and it’s every bit as fierce and haunting as promised.
Premiering November 6th, the drama opens with shocking twists and relentless momentum, offering an immersive, high-stakes ride from the start. At the center is Kim Yoo Jung, fully transformed as Baek Ah Jin, a top actress whose flawless image hides a devastating past.
Episodes 1 through 4 trace Ah Jin’s brutal childhood, scarred by an abusive father, Baek Sun Gyu (Bae Soo Bin), and the murder of her mother Im Sun Ye (Lee Seo An). Hoping for peace after her father’s remarriage, she instead suffered again under her cruel stepmother, Hwang Ji Sun (Kim Yoo Mi)—her only comfort being stepbrother Yoon Jun Seo (Kim Young Dae), who quietly protected her.

Ajin was so done with her abusive father that she staged everything. endured the beatings, played innocent, and made sure he was gone so she could finally be free. The way she manipulates people is scary and brilliant. She’ll do anything to survive. #DearXep3 #DearX #KimYouJung pic.twitter.com/rAiYhw9nOQ

As a high schooler, Ah Jin faced a new rival, Shim Sung Hee (Kim Yi Kyeong), a jealous classmate who tried to expose her secrets. When Sung Hee uncovered Ah Jin’s manipulation of classmate Kim Jae Oh (Kim Do Hoon), Ah Jin turned the tables with a ruthless counterattack. But when her estranged father returned demanding money, her hatred and despair reached a breaking point.
Failing to attend college, Ah Jin began working at a café run by Choi Jung Ho (Kim Ji Hoon), a rare adult who treated her with genuine care. When a stalker targeted her, Jung Ho stepped in—but Ah Jin saw his kindness as something to exploit. Her ensuing act of revenge—bloody, chilling, and euphoric—marked her final descent.
As Jun Seo’s narration echoed, “Ah Jin offered a sacrifice to the gods and broke her chains,” the series delivered one of its most spine-tingling moments.
And that’s the moment Ajin flipped her entire life, just like she always planned. JoonSeo said it best, ‘If she ever finds happiness, it’ll be at the cost of someone else’s pain.’ He knows she’s a complete psycho, but he’s still obsessed. And now she’s a star. #DearXep4 #DearX pic.twitter.com/3kq1gzwfzo

Ajin has suffered so much, and now to reach the top, she’s going to manipulate and hurt the very people who truly care about her. I felt so bad for mr Choi. I don’t think I’m ready to see the way she’s going to manipulate Ikang too #DearX #KimYooJung pic.twitter.com/2hGhMVHT9v

But her supposed freedom quickly crumbled as the investigation into Jung Ho’s death resurfaced painful truths. Jun Seo tried to take the blame, but salvation came instead from Seo Mi Ri (Kim Ji Young), the powerful CEO of Longstar Entertainment. Mi Ri offered Ah Jin a new life as a star—with one condition: never see Jun Seo again.
“I’ll rise so high that no one can ever touch me,” Ah Jin vowed, signaling her dangerous climb toward power and ruin.
With just four episodes, Dear X has turned intrigue into obsession. Episodes 5 and 6 premiere on November 13th at 6 PM KST.
