Choi Min Sik and Han So Hee have officially been cast in the Korean remake of The Intern, with cameras rolling September 29th. The film, which reimagines the 2015 global hit through a Korean lens, promises a fresh generational dynamic led by two powerhouse stars.

Han So Hee (Gyeongseong Creature, Project Y) stars as Sun Woo, the charismatic CEO of fashion label Woo22, who built the brand into a 10 billion KRW (approx. 7.1 million USD) success with lightning speed. Choi Min Sik, one of Korea’s most revered actors (The Admiral: Roaring Currents, Big Bet, Exhuma), plays Gi Ho, a retiree who takes on a second act as a senior intern at Woo22. Their unlikely partnership sets the stage for a heartwarming and comedic clash of perspectives.

The supporting cast further enriches the ensemble. Kim Geum Soon (When Life Gives You Tangerines) plays Hee Sook, the warm presence behind Woo22’s cafeteria. Kim Joon Han (Anna, Good Partner) takes on the role of Woo22’s vice president Young Hwan, while Ryu Hye Young (Law and the City) portrays Min Ah, the sharp and capable team manager mentoring Gi Ho. Rising talent Kim Yo Han (Officer Black Belt) joins as Ju Sung, Gi Ho’s intern peer, and Park Ye Ni (A Hundred Memories) plays Yu Jin, a spirited MD.

Helming the project is director Kim Do Young, acclaimed for Kim Ji Young, Born 1982. Kim previously won Best New Director at the Baeksang Arts Awards and Chunsa Film Festival, and her nuanced storytelling is expected to bring a socially resonant touch to the remake.
