Han Hyo Joo is going full manga heroine in the new series.
The actress fronts the October issue of Singles Korea magazine, coinciding with the release of Romantics Anonymous, Netflix’s highly anticipated Korea–Japan co-production. In the drama, Han plays Lee Hana, a brilliant chocolatier who struggles with severe social anxiety.
For the cover spread, Han appeared with a fresh, makeup-free look, channeling a youthful manga heroine vibe. In the accompanying interview, she revealed that more than 90% of her lines in the series were in Japanese—an immense challenge that led her to spend nearly a year living and filming in Tokyo.
Speaking about her co-star Shun Oguri, Han was full of admiration: “He really is an amazing actor,” she said.

Romantics Anonymous has drawn attention for its star-studded cast and cross-cultural storytelling, with Han’s near-native Japanese delivery receiving special praise. Looking back on the project, Han recalled the emotional final shoot: “So many of the staff were in tears. Working this job, I felt like a rookie again.”
This year marks Han’s 20th year in acting. Reflecting on her journey, she shared: “I’ve been lucky to make it this far. I always feel indebted to the love and opportunities I’ve received, and that’s why I’ve worked even harder.”
