Choi Si Won posted a tribute to Charlie Kirk, a well-known ally of Donald Trump, then abruptly removed it.
On September 11th, Choi shared on his Instagram Story a message mourning Kirk, featuring a picture of Kirk and the words “REST IN PEACE CHARLIE KIRK,” along with a cross. Soon afterward, the post was deleted.
Kirk was fatally shot in the neck on September 11th during a town-hall event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He had just begun answering a question about gun violence when shots rang out. In footage from the scene, Kirk is seen clutching his neck and collapsing as the audience screamed. He was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Kirk had recently attended “BuildUp Korea 2025” in Goyang, South Korea.
In the aftermath, public figures responded. Chris Pratt posted on X, “Praying for Charlie Kirk right now, for his wife and young children, for our country. We need God’s grace. God help us.”
President Trump also expressed his grief, writing, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by all, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.” He has ordered the U.S. flags to remain at half-staff until sunset on September 14th in Kirk’s memory.
