Singer-actress IU has added another milestone to her career, taking home Best Actress at the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards for her acclaimed performance in When Life Gives You Tangerines.

Reflecting on the win, IU admitted the experience was far more overwhelming than expected. While she had hoped her team might win an ensemble award, the unexpected call of her own name left her flustered, trembling on stage and nearly in tears. She even stumbled on her dress as she made her way up, and for the first time since her debut, the nerves hit her so hard it felt like stage fright.

Fans noted how visibly nervous she looked, remarking they had never seen IU tremble so much. The moment resonated with viewers both in the venue and watching from afar, with the audience breaking into applause as her nerves showed through.

IU confessed she still hasn’t rewatched her acceptance speech: “I don’t think I’ll be able to for years. Just the thought brings back that feeling of panic—even after a whole decade, I doubt I can see it. I’ve always calmed down once I got on stage, but that night was different—it was unforgettable.”

The evening also highlighted a touching moment with co-star Yeom Hye Ran, who plays Gwang Rye in the series. As IU described: “I got so many congratulations, but the one that really moved me was from Hye Ran sitting right next to me. She hugged me tightly and told me to hurry up and go onstage. I was so nervous that I kept staring at the floor during my speech, but when I finally looked up, our eyes met and she was smiling at me just like Gwang Rye would. When I came back down, she said, ‘I really wanted to hear your speech, Ji Eun,’ and congratulated me again. I was so grateful I almost cried. It honestly felt like Gwang Rye was speaking to me, and that’s why it’s such a special memory.”
