Son Ho Young is setting the record straight about the dating rumors that once made headlines—including one with Song Hye Kyo, and even one with his own g.o.d bandmate Yoon Kye Sang.
On the August 6th episode of MBC’s Radio Star, Son appeared alongside Kim Jang Hoon, Bobby Kim, and Jo Sung Mo, where he candidly looked back on some of the most bizarre and awkward moments from his early career.
Dubbed a “filrting-master” back in the day, the singer explained that it was mostly because of his outgoing nature. “I’ve always been super social, even after debut. I had a lot of friends,” he said. “I used to hang out with Song Hye Kyo a lot. She also liked meeting people, so we formed a little social circle and had a great time.”
But then came his first scandal. “My very first dating rumor was with her,” he said, laughing. “I still remember the headline—‘Pink Friendship.’ We were just good friends, but once the news broke, the agency went into full panic mode. After that, it felt wrong to be in the same room.” He continued, “Things got awkward between us after that. We barely saw each other again.”
That wasn’t the end of the rumor mill. Son revealed that he even got caught up in a bizarre scandal involving fellow g.o.d member Yoon Kye Sang—this time, fueled by fanfiction. “There were rumors we were dating. It really started with fanfics, but it spread. Then people photoshopped pictures of us together. One of them even made it to the front page of a newspaper.”
Years later, Son went viral for crying at Yoon Kye Sang’s wedding—and hard. Netizens dubbed him the “crying angel.”
But as Son explained, each member of g.o.d had their own style when it came to weddings. “At Joon Hyung’s wedding, he cried like crazy—even more than the bride,” Son said. “Tae Woo is a showman, so his wedding was like a concert. The curtain opened, I popped out as the host, and the bride came down on a chandelier.”
Then came Yoon Kye Sang’s turn. “His wedding was different,” Son recalled. “It was just about him. I didn’t do anything but just see him.”
