Netflix has officially announced the premiere of its brand-new romantic reality series Better Late Than Single, set to launch globally on July 8th.
Better Late Than Single is a makeover-meets-romance reality show that helps “romance rookies”—those who’ve never dated—navigate their very first relationships. Following the success of Single’s Inferno, Netflix returns with a fresh twist on the dating genre, this time spotlighting charmingly awkward first-timers experiencing love in its rawest form.
Most notably, Seo In Guk, Kang Hanna, Lee Eun Ji, and Car the Garden have been selected as “Flirting Makers.” They’ll coach their assigned participants through everything from style upgrades to communication tips and confidence boosters, all in the name of the perfect first date.
Seo In Guk, serving as a “dating mentor” who doesn’t spare realistic advice, shared, “I was curious about how people who’ve never dated express excitement and wanted to help them navigate it.” Kang Hanna, a self-professed dating show fanatic, added to expectations by saying, “Watching these first crushes unfold—there were so many moving, joyful moments.”
Lee Eun Ji commented, “I love dopamine-packed dating shows,” adding, “The ‘never dated’ theme was just too good to pass up. And the idea of giving love advice was fresh.” Meanwhile, Car the Garden said, “The idea of helping people who’ve never dated before was interesting enough.”
The teaser already has fans hooked. The contestants’ painfully awkward flirting attempts and heart-on-sleeve confessions bring both shock and bursts of laughter. Their confusion and tears when facing emotions for the first time, asking “Are relationships and love always this hard?” gives a glimpse into the unpredictable first romances. One participant even confesses, “I thought, ‘I think I’m going to marry her,'” teasing the sweet chaos ahead.
