Kim Soo Hyun is facing potential legal action from Taiwan’s largest convenience store chain, 7-ELEVEN. The damages are estimated at approximately 4.3 million USD.

According to reports from local outlets, including SETN on the 17th, Taiwan 7-ELEVEN is reviewing a legal response after abruptly scrapping a high-profile collaboration with Kim Soo Hyun. The cancellation reportedly caused losses of 130 million Taiwan dollars (NTD), prompting the company to consider filing a formal lawsuit for damages.

The campaign, which was set to roll out nationwide starting March 19th, featured Kim as the face of multiple products, including fresh food, coffee, merchandise, and cup sleeves. However, after Kim became embroiled in public controversy over alleged past involvement with the late actress Kim Sae Ron during her minor years, the entire launch was shelved.

The situation became particularly costly for Taiwan 7-ELEVEN as they had already conducted public drawings for attendees to Kim’s fan meeting. With product launches scrapped and promotional materials and merchandise destroyed, the convenience store chain reportedly suffered direct losses of about 100 million Taiwan dollars. When factoring in damage to their public image and marketing losses, the total damages sum up to 130 million NTD.

However, the parent company, Uni-President Enterprises, has yet to release an official statement.

Kim’s agency, Gold Medalist, previously addressed his absence from the Taiwan event, stating the schedule had been “postponed for safety reasons,” not canceled outright.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that three companies in South Korea are also either preparing or have already filed lawsuits against Kim and his agency, seeking damages totaling up to 6 billion KRW (approx. 4.3 million USD).
