A suspect has been arrested and taken into custody in connection with the recent burglary at the home of popular comedian Park Na Rae. Contrary to earlier speculation, police have confirmed it was not an inside job.

According to the Yongsan Police Department, a man identified as “A” was arrested on April 10th and is now being formally investigated on charges of theft. The suspect allegedly broke into Park Na Rae’s residence in Yongsan, Seoul, on April 4th, stealing valuables worth tens of millions of KRW.

Initial speculation suggested the burglary may have been carried out by someone with inside access, as there were no immediate signs of forced entry. However, through analysis of CCTV footage and the tracing of stolen property, authorities determined the break-in took place on April 4th and were able to identify and arrest the suspect. Police further revealed that the man has a prior criminal record involving theft and is also under investigation for another theft within the same district.

The suspect reportedly told authorities he had no idea the home belonged to Park Na Rae.

Ahead of the police briefing, Park Na Rae’s agency released a statement confirming they had voluntarily provided CCTV footage on April 8th and fully cooperated with the investigation. “We were informed that the suspect was identified and arrested, and that a warrant for detention has been issued,” the statement read. “We are deeply relieved and sincerely grateful for the police’s swift and diligent response.”

Addressing the speculation of an inside job, the agency emphasized that this was not an incident involving any acquaintances or insiders, adding, “We respectfully request the media refrain from reporting unverified information.”

Park Na Rae canceled her scheduled TV appearances on the 8th after discovering the theft and is said to be emotionally shaken. “She’s still processing the shock and is mentally distressed,” the agency relayed.
