The February 26th episode of tvN’s variety show You Quiz on the Block featuring Han Ga In has been made private on streaming platform TVING, raising eyebrows among viewers.
Han Ga In recently became the unwitting poster child for the “Daechi mom” (referring to hyper-competitive mothers from Seoul’s education-focused Daechi district), sparking negative public sentiment. Netizens speculated the removal was in response to this backlash, but tvN has a different explanation: “It’s been temporarily made private due to a situation requiring additional discussions regarding some Asian Games footage used in the episode. We plan to restore it after resolving the issue.”
The controversy ignited after comedian Lee Su Ji’s viral video about a “Daechi Mom” drew parallels to Han Ga In’s previous YouTube content. The parody video reminded viewers of the actress’s now-deleted footage showing her giving rides to her two children, which subsequently led to an influx of negative comments targeting her children. She ultimately made those videos private.
Honeybee Studio, which produces Han Ga In’s YouTube channel “Han Ga In Is Free,” confirmed to Starnews, “We have no plans to re-upload it.” Explaining the reason behind the removal, they stated, “There were too many malicious comments about Han Ga In’s children. It was a protective measure for the children.”
Following the controversy, Han Ga In appeared on You Quiz to clarify her position, stating, “People think I push my children extremely hard academically, but that’s absolutely not true.” Despite her explanation, negative comments about the actress continue to persist.
