“These days, I like good-looking men,” Park Bo Young revealed candidly in an interview on February 18th. The actress explained the evolution of her preferences, noting, “I used to prefer mentally healthy people. I think that was because I felt unstable myself back then.” She added with confidence, “But now I’m healthy.”
Park stars in Netflix’s original series Melo Movie, which follows the journey of young adults navigating their desires for both love and dreams while helping each other overcome personal traumas. She portrays Kim Mu Bee, who enters the film industry with mixed feelings of love-hate toward her father, who cherished movies more than her. Her character’s quiet life takes an unexpected turn when the conspicuous Go Gyeom enters the picture.
Addressing the kiss scene in the series—which co-star Choi Woo Shik previously mentioned receiving guidance from Park—she explained, “I had a bit more experience with kiss scenes than Woo Shik. The director emphasized that the ending scene was crucial and needed to look pretty. I suggested we should adjust the angle differently, so we discussed the positioning.”
“I think Go Gyeom and Woo Shik have a lot in common. Maybe it’s because I met Woo Shik through Gyeom,” Park shared. “Like Gyeom, he’s friendly and has that puppy-like charm, so there wasn’t much need to work on our chemistry. He was Gyeom himself, and I thanked him for that at the end.”
“Woo Shik is so cute and funny. Now he just feels like Gyeom,” Park continued. “I always separate the actor from their character when I meet them. While I love and adore Gyeom, Woo Shik is Woo Shik. Hyung Sik is Hyung Sik. I loved Min Hyuk in ‘Do Bong Soon,’ but I’m good at compartmentalizing characters and actors. But I do love them as characters.”
When asked if she had ruled out dating fellow actors, Park responded with a playful, “Well, I never say never,” drawing laughter from those present.
