Kim Tae Hee’s older sister, Kim Hee Won, has been confirmed as the owner of a high-value Seoul apartment that was temporarily seized due to unpaid national health insurance premiums before being released earlier this month.

According to the National Health Insurance Service, the agency placed a seizure on an apartment in Oksu-dong, Seongdong District, Seoul, owned by Kim Hee Won, CEO of Lua Asset, on December 29th. The seizure was lifted on January 19th after the matter was resolved. The apartment, located in the Morningville Hannam complex, is reportedly valued at over 30 billion KRW (approx. 21 million USD).

The property was originally purchased by actress Kim Tae Hee in 2006 for around 10 billion KRW and later gifted to her sister in 2016.

Kim Tae Hee’s agency, Story J Company, explained that the situation occurred because Kim Hee Won is currently residing in the United States and was unaware of the unpaid insurance premiums while living overseas. The agency stated that once the issue was discovered, all necessary procedures were completed promptly, resulting in the seizure being lifted.

A representative from Story J Company emphasized that the matter has no connection to Kim Tae Hee’s personal finances or tax affairs. They also drew a clear line between the actress and the administrative issue involving her sister.

Kim Hee Won previously headed Lua Entertainment, where Kim Tae Hee was signed for nine years, before rebranding the company as Lua Asset in 2019 and shifting its focus to overseas real estate investment and development. Lua Asset currently shares an office address with J Angel Corporation, a company where Kim Tae Hee is listed as a registered CEO.

Kim Tae Hee, who appeared last year in Amazon Prime Video’s drama Butterfly, has not issued a separate statement regarding the situation.
