Members of BTS, including RM and V, joined a chorus of celebrities congratulating novelist Han Kang on her historic Nobel Prize in Literature.
On October 10th, the Swedish Academy announced Han Kang as the first Korean to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, citing her “intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life.”
RM shared his joy on Instagram with a post featuring tearful and heart emojis, celebrating Han’s achievement. V followed with a heartfelt message, writing, “I read ‘Human Acts’ while in the army. Congratulations!” RM, known for his love of reading, has previously recommended several of Han Kang’s works to fans, including Human Acts and The Vegetarian.
Go Hyun Jung also expressed her excitement, posting a screenshot of the news and writing, “Finally. Wow. Han Kang wins the Nobel Prize. So happy!” She shared images of Human Acts and I Do Not Bid Farewell, showing her admiration for the author.
Meanwhile, actor Yoo Teo referenced a line from his film Past Lives, which read, “Because Koreans don’t win the Nobel Prize in Literature.” Just seven months after the film’s release, Han Kang’s win gave the line an unexpectedly ironic twist.
Other stars, including HYNN, Ryu Jun Yeol, Moon Ga Young, Ok Ja Yeon, and Kim Min Ha, also celebrated Han Kang’s historic win, sharing their excitement on social media.
