BIGBANG, the iconic K-pop group, has reached a significant milestone, celebrating their 18th anniversary.
On August 19th, G-Dragon took to Instagram Story to commemorate the occasion, tagging fellow members Taeyang and Daesung while sharing the cover of their 2022 digital single, Still Life, with the caption “#bigbang18thanniversary.”
Taeyang also acknowledged the anniversary on his account, adding a yellow heart to his “#18thanniversary” post. Daesung expressed his gratitude on his official website, writing, “Thank you for standing by us for 18 years! I may not always express it well, but I’m always grateful in my heart. I’ll continue to work hard so I can keep singing for a long time! Thank you once again! Let’s keep pushing forward this year and beyond!”
Noticeably absent from the celebration were former members T.O.P and Seungri.
BIGBANG debuted on August 19th, 2006, under YG Entertainment and quickly rose to fame with hits like “Lies,” “Last Farewell,” “Haru Haru,” “Sunset Glow,” “Fantastic Baby,” “BAE BAE,” and “Bang Bang Bang,” among others.
T.O.P made headlines in 2017 when he was convicted of marijuana use, resulting in a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. Following his departure from YG Entertainment, T.O.P announced his exit from BIGBANG. He is set to appear in Netflix’s Squid Game Season 2, slated for release in December. Seungri, meanwhile, was embroiled in the Burning Sun scandal, which led to his departure from the entertainment industry. He was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for charges including prostitution mediation and was released in February 2023 after serving his sentence.
