Director Woo Min Ho, along with stars Hyun Bin and Lee Dong Wook, is confirmed to attend the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) for the world premiere of their highly anticipated espionage drama Harbin. The film, which has been officially invited to the Gala Presentations section, will make its global debut during the festival, which runs from September 5th to 15th.
Harbin is a gripping espionage drama set in 1909, centered around the intense pursuit and suspicion between those headed to Harbin for a singular purpose and those determined to stop them. In the film, Hyun Bin portrays An Jung Geun, while Lee Dong Wook takes on the role of Lee Chang Seop, both characters navigating the tumultuous journey of independence fighters.
The world premiere event for Harbin will take place on September 8th at the prestigious Roy Thomson Hall. Prior to the screening, Hyun Bin, Lee Dong Wook, and Director Woo Min Ho will grace the red carpet, greeting fans and attendees.
The next day, TIFF Bell Lightbox will host the “In Conversation with Hyun Bin and Lee Dong Wook” event. This feature of TIFF, hosted by official programmer Anita Lee, offers audiences an intimate dialogue with the stars, discussing their careers and the making of Harbin. The “In Conversation with” series is a key highlight of the festival, featuring global talents such as Steven Soderbergh, Cate Blanchett (Rumours), and Zoe Saldana (Emilia Perez). The TIFF website highlights the event, stating, “Korean superstars Hyun Bin and Lee Dong Wook join us for a highly anticipated conversation about their respective careers in the Korean film and television industry and their espionage thriller ‘Harbin.'”
Harbin reunites Director Woo Min Ho, known for his stylish direction and insightful portrayal of historical periods in films like The Man Standing Next and Inside Men, with Hive Media Corp, the production company behind 12.12: The Day and Deliver Us from Evil. Following its world premiere at TIFF, Harbin is slated for a domestic release later this year.
