The highly anticipated Pachinko Season 2 has unveiled its first international poster and trailer, featuring BLACKPINK’s Rosé singing a stunning rendition of “Viva La Vida.”

Pachinko, a sweeping epic, begins with a forbidden love and spans across Korea, Japan, and America, exploring themes of war, peace, love, and loss. This critically acclaimed series tells the unforgettable saga of a Korean immigrant family over four generations, driven by an indomitable will to survive and prosper. The show, praised for its warm yet grand narrative, will officially premiere its second season on August 23rd.

The newly released trailer transports viewers to 1945 Osaka, showcasing the reunion of Sun Ja (Kim Min Ha) and Han Su (Lee Min Ho), and introducing new faces like Kim Sung Kyu. Season 2 delves into the struggles of Sun Ja as she makes perilous choices to protect her family starting in war-torn Osaka in 1945. It also follows her grandson Solomon (Jin Ha) as he attempts to rebuild his life in Tokyo in 1989, interwoven with the story of an older Sun Ja (Youn Yuh Jung) worrying about him.

Season 1, produced in Korean, Japanese, and English, received acclaim, winning awards at the Critics Choice Awards, Gotham Awards, and more. Returning cast members include Lee Min Ho, Youn Yuh Jung, Kim Min Ha, Jin Ha, Anna Sawai, Jung Eun Chae, Soji Arai, and Han Jun Woo, with new addition Kim Sung Kyu.

Produced by Media Res, with Soo Hugh as the writer and executive producer, Season 2 of Pachinko also sees Michael Ellenberg, Lindsey Springer, and Theresa Kang from Blue Marble Pictures as executive producers. Directed by Justin Chon, Jinny Kim, and Lee Sang Il, the season promises a powerful continuation of the story.
