Recently, various idol groups have been causing a stir of controversy among netizens and it is over something you wouldn’t expect – their vocals. Yes, we have an array of talented idols and singers in K-Pop but the lack of live skills, particularly in the 4th and 5th Gen K-Pop idol groups, has caused fans to harshly criticize them more than before.
From YouTube shorts to TikTok posts, many performers such as LE SSERAFIM and ATEEZ were sent to the chopping block. The basis of a singer is to sing after all so it is no surprise that after some of the recent Coachella K-Pop performances we can see fans arguing and discussing the live performances of groups in the comments.
While there is a history of performances and singers who may have been lacking in the vocal department and had their time in the hot seat, what about groups that went completely unscathed due to their vocal prowess? Let’s dive in and review some K-Pop groups who never let a fan down during a live performance.

BTOB
Is it even a surprise that BTOB made it on this list? Although some still judge Peniel as being a mediocre singer, the group collectively boasts some radical vocal Gods. Seo EunKwang, Lee Min Hyuk, Lee Chang Seop, Lim Hyun Sik and Yook Sungjae are famously known for putting on shows that move viewers to tears. Their vocals have always been out of this world whether it’s live on-stage or during a broadcasted performance. They are known as the 6 Vocals, 6 Rappers group in Korea due to their ability to sing well in any genre. If you don’t believe me, maybe this performance on Dingo Music’s Killing Voice will set the record straight.
NMIXX
Although their debut was a bit… rocky (and personally they are NOT the kind of group I’d introduce to new fans of K-Pop or someone wondering what the new Gen 5 sound is like), the girls did UNO card flipped it and reversed it back from having a questionable to being a favorable force in the vocal side of K-Pop. After appearing on SBS Power FM’s Doo O’ Clock, fans questioned how overlooked NMIXX were because of their debut. When handed the right song, these lovely six girls can deliver. Lily, Haewon, Sullyoon, Jinni, BAE, Jiwoo and Kyujin each possess some quality vocals and performed their songs “DASH” and “Run For Roses” from their 2nd mini album. After that eye-opening performance, fans realized just how impressive and stable their vocals truly are. See if the video below will change your mind too.
BABYMONSTER
Even newly debuted groups take the time and continue to undergo persistent training to be the best. Unlike other artists currently under YG, the 7 member girl group, with members Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Rami, Rora, and Chiquita, proved that their talent may just surpass their pink predecessors. After appearing on KBS Radio Cool FM’s Park Myung-soo’s Radio Show broadcast, fans were impressed by the excellent high notes, pitches, and thrilling feelings that the girls delivered through the radio. It was absolute pleasure for the ears some would say! Even Park Myung-soo praised the girls asking how long they trained to which they replied “YG doesn’t just pick anyone to debut!” The video is receiving an explosive response with over 5 million views and you better be next in line to watch it if you haven’t already!
Which groups do you think could match this list perfectly? While there are many groups over time who have proven their skills such as G-Friend, Big Bang, and more, these three have been consistently on top and may continue to do so.
