Netflix has unveiled a collection of never-before-seen photos and behind-the-scenes moments from its film My Name is Loh Kiwan.
The images offer a glimpse into the vibrant atmosphere on set, capturing the dedication and passion of the cast and crew. Photos showcasing Kiwan (played by Song Joong Ki) and Marie (Choi Sung Eun) highlight the actors’ powerful performances in their respective roles.
The collection further expands with scenes depicting the protagonists’ reunion in a warm southern country, offering a stark contrast to the cold and unfamiliar landscape of Belgium they initially encountered.
These new stills not only feature Song Joong Ki and Choi Sung Eun, but also introduce us to other key characters, including Cyril (Waël Sersoub), Yoon Seong (Jo Han Chul), and Seon Ju (Lee Sang Hee).
My Name is Loh Kiwan to the third spot on the Netflix Global Top 10 Movies (Non-English) category, and its reach extends to 12 countries, including South Korea, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Morocco, and Qatar, according to Top10.netflix.com.
Overseas media outlets have praised the film, with NME commending Song Joong Ki’s performance, stating, “Song plays Kiwan to perfection, making the endless pain and disappointments of so-called liberation viscerally real, while Choi brings multitudes to Marie, slowly unraveling new parts of her as we see her in different situations and scenarios.”
The Review Geek labeled it a “masterpiece everyone should see,” while Cinema Express commended its “straightforward, earnest, and poignant” exploration of identity and the struggles faced by refugees around the world. Ready Steady Cut highlighted the film’s pacing, attributing its effectiveness to the “instrumental music and compelling acting.”

One of the things that touch me deeply is Kiwan's chemistry with his mom. No words is needed to see their lovely bond as mother and son, beautifully and realistically portrayed by #SongJoongKi and actress #KimSungRyung#MyNameIsLohKiWan pic.twitter.com/DXlsh6ZdQB

Would I be able to go through it all again? like building a castle in the sand? It's something I've asked myself hundreds of times.
And my answer is I would gladly do it all over again ❤️🩹#MyNameIsLohKiWan #SongJoongKi pic.twitter.com/UcsB8UyCAc

#MyNameisLohKiwan(2024) is story of a North Korean defector seeking refuge in Belgium. Storyline is credible with strong performance from #SoongJoongki who played Loh Kiwan character-real, vulnerable, desperate yet a strong one. Ably supported by #ChoiSungEun #MustWatchableMovie pic.twitter.com/69sWYhYPIw
